This guide shows you how to connect your mWater data directly into Microsoft Excel, so your spreadsheet always shows the latest data with a single click. There is no need to download files manually or copy and paste between platforms.
The process has two parts: first you create a live export link from mWater Integrator, then you paste that link into Excel. After that, Excel will refresh the data from mWater whenever you ask it to.
Step 1: Open the mWater Integrator
The mWater Integrator is the feature that generates a live, shareable URL for your data. You will find it inside the mWater portal.
Choose Export Integrations, then click +New Export Integration
Choose Export Integration
Step 2: Configure Your Export
Example Export Integration
Once you click +New Export Integration, you can setup your export
Fill in the basic information. Name, Description.
Select your Data Source
Define columns
Configure permissions
Set Limits
Save and Test
You can see the detail here. When asked to choose a format, select CSV. This works best with Excel.
Step 3: Copy Your Export URL
Once your export is configured, the Integrator generates a permanent URL, a live web address that always points to your latest mWater data.
After saving your export settings, Export URL will be generated
A URL will appear that looks something like this (see screenshot)
Click Copy or select and copy the full URL
Keep this URL somewhere handy, you will paste it into Excel in the next step

Step 4: Connect the URL to Excel
Get Data > From Other Sources > From Web
Now open Microsoft Excel and use the built-in Power Query feature to connect to your mWater export URL.
Open Microsoft Excel and create a new workbook (or open the one where you want the data to appear)
Click the Data tab in the top ribbon
Click Get Data > From Other Sources > From Web
A small dialog box will appear. Make sure Basic is selected, then paste your mWater export URL into the URL field
Click OK
Step 5: Load Your Data with Power Query
After connecting to the URL, Excel will open Power Query, a built-in data transformation tool. This is where you can preview, clean, and load the data into your spreadsheet.
Excel will first ask you to choose an authentication method. Select Basic, and fill in with your mWater username and password. Then click Connect.
Power Query will open and show you a preview of the data from mWater.
Click Transform Data, if you want to make any changes, such as removing a column, renaming a header, or filtering rows, you can do so here. This step is optional.
When you are happy with the data, click Close & Load in the top-left of the Power Query window.
Excel will load the data into your workbook as a formatted table. This usually takes a few seconds.

Step 6: Refresh Your Data
Queries & Connections Properties
Because your Excel table is connected to a live mWater URL, you can update it with the latest data at any time, without repeating any of the steps above.
To refresh manually: right-click anywhere inside the data table and select Refresh, or go to Data > Refresh All
To set up automatic refresh: go to Data > Queries & Connections > Connection Properties > tick "Refresh every X minutes" or "Refresh data when opening the file"
