How to Create and Manage Accounts

From the mWater Portal

Create an account

Step 1: Open the mWater Portal and click the Blue Signup Button
Step 2: You can create an mWater account a) using an email address, username, and password.
a) Fill all text fields in the window, then click the blue Signup button at the bottom.  This will create your account for usage of the mWater site.  You can begin working right away.  
If you have been instructed to get your account by a survey Administrator, be sure to share the exact username with them.
It is important to note that for the Username field, users should input names rather than codes or titles.
It's important to check your email account used for the signup for the verification message which will complete the creation of your mWater Account. You can use the same account to work in the mWater Portal and the mWater Surveyor. 

Change your username or password

Step 1: On the mWater homepage, click on your current username in the top right corner of the black banner.  A dropdown menu with the options 'Logout', 'My Account', 'Report a Problem' should appear.
Step 2: Click on 'My Account' (highlighted by the yellow box).  You should now see a window that lists the options to change your Username, Email, and Password.
Step 3: Click on 'Edit' (highlighted by the yellow box).  You should now see a drop down lists options to change your Username, Email, and Password.
Step 4: Input the new Username and click on 'Save'.  A dialog box reading 'Success' should appear.
Step 5: To change your Password, input your Old Password, then enter the New Password in the 'New Password' text box and again in the 'Confirm New Password' text box.  Then click on 'Change Password'.  A dialog box reading 'Success' should appear.
Please keep in mind that the system may take a few minutes to process your new Usernames and Passwords before showing in your account.

Change your email address

Step 1: Access the 'My Account' page (see Steps 1 through 2 above in the 'How to Change Your Username and Password' section for guidance).
Step 2: Delete the current email address in the text box and input the new email address. Then click 'Change Email'.  A dialog box reading 'Success' should appear.
Please keep in mind that the system may take a few minutes to process your new email address before showing in your account.

Enable Email Two-Factor Authentication

Email 2FA makes your account more secure by requiring you to enter a code from your email inbox when you log in. 
This is an optional feature, and can be set on your account page. An organization you are in may request that you turn on 2FA. You can also disable the authentication from the account page.

Delete your mWater user account

mWater is compliant with the latest data protection regulation including GDPR so you can always withdraw consent for personal data begin held. By clicking the button "Delete account and request removal of personal data" you will request the removal of the personal data including your user account from the platform. This includes the personally identifiable IP addresses and location information. To remove just your given name, family name, username or email address instead, please edit them manually above.
Step 1: Access the 'My Account' page (see Steps 1 through 2 above in the 'How to Change Your Username and Password' section for guidance).
Sept 2: Scroll to the 'Data' section of the page.
Step 2: Click the button 'Delete account and request removal of personal data'.
You will receive an email confirming the deletion of your user account information.

How to report a problem

If facing any login or account management issues, the 'Report a Problem' function will allow you to communicate the issue directly to the mWater team.
Step 1: On the mWater homepage, click on your current username in the top right corner of the black banner.  A dropdown menu with the options 'Logout', 'My Account', 'Report a Problem' should appear.
Step 2: Click on 'Report a problem' (highlighted by the yellow box).  You should now see a dialog box showing the email to which a reply will be sent and a text box to describe the problem.
Step 3: Describe the login or account problem by including:

You should receive a response to your issue as soon as possible.

From the mWater Surveyor app

Create an mWater account

  1. Open the mWater Surveyor and click on Signup
  2. Enter your name, username, email address and a secret password.
Please check that your email address is correct before creating an account.

Create an mWater account using Google

  1. when you Click  on Login using Google or facebook 
  2. a new interface will open as shown in the image on the right.
  3. Note lowSocial sign -in is nolonger supported in the app. 
  4. clicking on any of the options will return you to the log in page .

Logging in

You can log in with either your username or the email address on your account.
NOTE: YOU MUST BE ONLINE TO LOG IN

Confirming your email

When you first log in using your email, you will be asked to confirm the email you used to create the account.
  1. This will be shown in a yellow notification on your home page.
  2. Go to your email and look for a new mail titled "Email Confirmation." Click the link provided.
  3. After confirming, you should no longer see the yellow notification on the home page.

Resetting your password

Changing your email, password, username, etc

  1. Open the app and click on Settings
  2. Click on My Account
  3. Select the item that you'd like to change to modify it
Note: In order to change your password through this interface you must enter in your current password. If you have forgotten your current password please use the steps in the section above called "Resetting your password"

Delete your mWater user account

  1. Open the app and click on Settings
  2. Click on My Account
  3. Select "Delete account and request removal of personal data" at the bottom of the screen
