Global Filter

The Global Filter allows you to filter survey sites for a map widget or for the whole dashboard.

How to use the Global Filter in dashboards

D1. When creating a dashboard to filter sites, click on Settings to open the settings dialog box.
D2. Under the Global Filters Section, type the administrations and the locations you want to display.
Any widgets included in this dashboard (including Maps) will now automatically use filtered data:

How to use the Global Filter in maps

M1. If you do not want to create a filter for the whole dashboard, you can create a map that displays specific site types in a certain area. Drag the map widget into the dashboard.  Hover over the right hand corner of the map, click on the wheel, and click Edit.
M2. You are now in the Layers Tab.  Select what you want to visualize, whether it's sites or survey locations. In this example, we chose to map all Water Points and Sanitation Facilities.
M3. Select the Filters tab. Under the Global Filters Section, type the administrations and the locations you want to display.

Important Notes

I1. Be mindful of any filters applied to both the dashboard and to map widgets. Site surveys will not appear if dashboard and map widget filters clash.
In this example, the Map Global Filter (from previous steps) is still on. When we changed the Global Filter in the Dashboard Settings to only show sites located in Haiti, the filters clashed, so no site surveys were displayed on the map widget.
I2. Filters can behave differently when rosters or matrices are a part of the survey structure.  If the filter is improperly filtering data, check the survey for rosters or matrices.
