The mWater Surveyor app requires permissions from the operating system to use various functions on the device. These permissions are typically set via popup notifications when the application or page is first opened. These popup notifications ask whether the app can use 1) Device storage 2) Device location 3) Camera. If the user chooses not to allow these permissions in the popup, they can always allow the permissions later via the device settings.
Android
Via Popup
In order to allow mWater Surveyor to access the device functions, the user must click "Allow" for each popup.
Upon first opening the app, Surveyor will ask permissions to use the device storage
Upon first opening the app, Surveyor will ask to use the device location
Upon using the Camera for the first time, Surveyor will ask for permission to access the camera
Via Settings
At any time the user can change these permissions via the Settings menu.
To change the app permissions:
Click the Android Settings menu
Select the App option
Click Surveyor
Click Permissions
Activate the permissions for Camera, Location, and Storage
iOS (Apple)
Via Popup
In order to allow mWater Surveyor to access the device functions, the user must click "Allow" for each popup. The permissions are slightly different for iOS devices before and after iOS version 13.0.
The three main app permissions for iOS versions BEFORE 13.0 include:
Permission to Send Notifications
Permission to Access the device location while you are using the app
Permission to Access the Camera
The two main app permissions for iOS versions AFTER 13.0 include:
Permission to Access the Camera
Permission to Use the device location while you are using the app
Via Settings
At any time the user can change these permissions via the Settings menu.
To change the app permissions:
Click the iOS Settings icon
Select the Surveyor app
Activate the permissions for Location, Camera, Notifications, and Cellular Data
Web Browser
Via Popup
Using the mWater Surveyor app in the web browser requires the user to authorize it to use the location of the device.
To authorize the web app to use their location the user must:
1) Select the Map tab
2) Click Allow on the popup which says "app.mwater.co wants to know your location"
OR
a) Click the location icon in the search bar
b) Choose the option Continue allowing this site to access your location
c) Click the Done button
Via Settings
At any time the user can change these permissions via the Settings menu.
To change the permissions of the web app the user must:
Click the browser's Menu icon (three vertical buttons)
Click the Settings button
Select Privacy and security
Click Site Settings
Choose app.mwater.co (or app.solstice.world)
Select Allow for the permissions Location, Camera, and Notification
