The Deploy tab is used to define roles and permissions for a set of survey responses. It also helps to separate different surveying activities on the same survey form. A deployment contains the deployment name, settings, and users with permissions to do different actions. These permissions are called roles, which include: Enumerators, Viewers, Managers, and Approvers. Deployments can be managed from 2 locations: 1) the Deploy tab on the Survey page 2) the Organizations page under the Manage tab. This page focuses on using 1) the Deploy tab on the survey page. For more information about using 2) the Organizations page to manage deployments visit this Resource Guide.

Using the Deployment Wizard
When deploying a survey for the first time, the deployment wizard will appear before the deployment settings page. Here, the user is given some instruction on deployments and organizations, and has an option to mark the survey as being created for an organization, or just for themselves.
For more information on using the deployment wizard visit this Feature Update.
The deployment wizard.
If the user selects the organization option, they can then select the organization and, optionally, a branch within that organization will be set as the branch which manages the survey.
To add the Managed by field to existing deployments, or to change it, you can go to the Survey Settings tab.
Using the Settings page to change the "Managed by" organization that was set using the Deployment Wizard.
Changing which organization or organization branch manages a survey will add admins from the new organization, but will not remove existing administrators.
Survey admins will be notified of new deployments of the survey.
Deployment settings
Status:
This setting defines whether enumerators can create new responses under this deployment using the mWater Surveyor app.
Active-If the deployment is Active, enumerators will be able to create new survey responses for this deployment.
Inactive- If the deployment is Inactive, enumerators will be unable to create new survey responses for this deployment.
It's recommended to make a deployment Inactive instead of Deleting it. This will ensure that responses are still available for analysis.
DELETING A DEPLOYMENT DELETES THE RESPONSES PERMANENTLY.
Roles and Permissions
Enumerators
This role allows a user, group, or organization to:
Open the form in the mWater Surveyor app and submit responses.
Modify their finalized responses ONLY IF the "Enumerators can continue to edit or delete their own responses when final" box is checked.
Example Enumerator
Viewers
This role allows a user, group, or organization to:
View finalized responses from this deployment
View all indicator values
Managers
This role allows a user, group, or organization to:
View responses at all stages of completion (Draft, Pending, Rejected, Finalized)
Edit responses manually at all stages of completion except Draft
Approve/reject/un-reject responses at all stages except Draft
Managers may NOT approve/reject/un-reject responses IF the "Only allow these approvers to approve or reject responses" box is checked. Managers can still edit or delete responses" box is checked under advanced.
Select this button if you DO NOT want managers to be able to approve or reject responses.
Viewers of Indicator Values
There are three ways for a user, organization, or organization branch to receive permission to view indicator values:
If the indicator is set to "Open" on the Survey>Design page
If they are added to the deployment's Viewer role
If they are added to the Viewers of Indicator Values role.
This role allows a user, group, or organization to:
View only the indicator values collected in this deployment
Example Role for Viewers of Indicator Values
Approval Chain
This role allows a user, group, or organization to:
Approve/reject/un-reject responses collected in the deployment
Multiple approval stages may be added to require multiple levels of approvals in order to finalize responses.

Deploy to Anonymous Link
mWater also allows surveys to be deployed via a link. These links can be used by anyone, even if they don't have a mWater account.
This feature is ideal for gathering feedback, polling a population that might not have usernames, and collecting responses in a snowball model in which responders can suggest other responses by sharing the link to the survey. Commonly known platforms that offer 'deploy by link' surveys include SurveyMonkey and Google Forms. You can now conduct this type of survey in mWater with the added advantage of real-time data analysis and reporting formats friendly to maps and dashboards.
For more information on deploying to an anonymous link visit this Feature Update.
How it works
Users familiar with traditional deployments know that the enumerators have to be set up either individually or in an organization before the deployment. In this case, once the survey is designed, you can deploy it immediately by creating a deploy link. Anyone with the link can complete the survey.
The deploy box is a little different. It offers the link and asks you to include a username and contact information that will appear when a potential respondent opens the link.
The new interface for deployments offers two choices: deploy to specific enumerators (you have to know their usernames or organization branches in advance); or deploy to anonymous respondents by creating a link.
Limitations
Survey respondents will need internet access to use this link and submit the response.
Surveys deployed by link are by nature anonymous so users must design a name field if you want to capture the respondent's identity.
Site questions cannot be part of the survey since respondents are not logged in and cannot access the map of sites to pick from in order to answer a site question. One workaround for this is to know site names and/or IDs in advance and include possible sites in a drop-down list to be selected.
Approval chains are not supported for deployments by link.

Title- This will be the name given to the deployment that can be used to separate survey responses made in via this deployment from other deployments.

DELETING A DEPLOYMENT DELETES THE RESPONSES PERMANENTLY.
Link- This is the URL that can be sent to any enumerators to respond to the survey. When clicked it will go directly to a survey page in the browser.
Contact Name/Contact Email- This field will be displayed at the top of the survey page. This can help enumerators to contact the survey administrator with questions or comments about the survey.
Viewers- This is the same as a standard deployment.
This role allows a user, group, or organization to:
View finalized responses from this deployment
View all indicator values
Managers- This is the same as a standard deployment.
Managers can still edit or delete responses if they are added in the Managers field under advanced.
Deleting deployments (WARNING)
It's very important not to delete deployments unless completely necessary. THIS WILL PERMANENTLY DELETE ALL RESPONSES FOR THIS DEPLOYMENT.
To remove your deployment and permanently delete the responses in it, you will need to type the name of the deployment in the field provided.
INSTEAD, IT MAY BE BETTER TO MARK THE DEPLOYMENT AS INACTIVE. This will ensure that survey data collected via this deployment is still available for use.
