The Preview tab allows for viewing of the survey as the enumerator would see it. This page is solely for previewing the form to test out the survey questionnaire, not for entering in data. Any data entered in the preview WILL NOT BE SAVED. This tab allows also has the conditional step logic, validations, and page-by-page interface that will be used in the mWater Surveyor.
Options
The first step is to choose the appropriate language from the dropdown list. These translations can be added/edited from the Translate tab.
There are two types of preview:
Entire Form- This displays the entire form in a wide-computer friendly format. Use this setting when you want to see all sections or pages simultaneously.
Device Preview- This displays the page-by-page interface in with aspect ratio similar to mobile devices. In order to navigate from page to page, click the "Next" or "Back" buttons.
Fill in a response
The Preview tab allows the user to enter in data in a nearly identical fashion to how an enumerator will see it. This allows quick testing of a form without deploying and using the mWater Surveyor.
There are a few functions that do not work the exact same as the mWater Surveyor:
Site questions- These questions will simply display a search box for site name and ID. The mWater Surveyor uses a more user friendly map, list, and search bar function that is not available in the portal. In order to respond to this question in Preview simply search for an example water point.
Photos- Image questions used on a mobile device will allow the user to take a picture with the device. The Portal's Preview tab only allows for the upload of pictures from a file. In order to respond to this question in Preview simply upload any image file from the computer as an example.
Location question- The Preview tab is most often used from a computer, which does not necessarily have an GPS. This means that Location question will fail to acquire a signal. In order to respond to this question in Preview simply click "Current Location" and then click the "Use Anyway" button.
Since this tab just provides a way to test the Survey questions but doesn't save the responses, using example data for these questions will not produce any poor quality data.
Submit
Once the survey response has been filled out, click the "Submit" button. The page will display an example message showing the success submission of the survey or show a red box around any errors caught by the validation steps in the survey. Remember, NO DATA WILL ACTUALLY BE SAVED FROM THIS EXAMPLE RESPONSE. See the photos below.
