Why this matters

Duplicated baseline surveys are one of the most common wastes in the sector: three organisations map the same district in the same year because none of them knew the others were there. Public data does not remove the need for your own survey, but it does tell you who to call first.

How to do it

  1. Open the global dashboard.
  2. Zoom to your district or country.
  3. See which infrastructure has been mapped publicly and which organisations are active there.
  4. Contact the organisations already working in the area before planning a new baseline.
  5. Share your own data publicly where your policy allows, so the map improves for everyone.
