How do you give a programme its own website instead of sending people to the Portal?

A Blue is a configurable site framework that gathers pages from the Portal and elsewhere into one branded hub, with access controlled per page. A Light Blue you configure yourself, while a Full Blue adds components custom-coded by mWater.

Why this matters

Ministers and the general public will not learn a data platform's navigation, and there is no reason they should have to. A programme hub that opens on the two dashboards that matter, with the guidance beside them, gets used. A link into a Portal with a sidebar of ninety items does not. The underlying data does not move, only the way people arrive at it.

How to do it

  1. List the pages your audience actually needs, usually far fewer than expected.
  2. Combine Portal pages and external pages into a Light Blue that you configure yourself.
  3. Set access per page, so public and internal pages can live in the same hub.
  4. Brand it so it reads as the programme's own site rather than as a platform.
  5. Ask about a Full Blue if you need custom-coded components beyond configuration.
